Most recently, Peel has secured signings from retailer giants Arcadia, Nandos and Sofaworks at the Straiton retail park. Arcadia has signed a 10 year lease, taking 10,000 square ft. of space and will trade under its Outfit fascia, including the brands Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Topman and Wallis. Work will begin in March 2015, with a view to open at the end of summer/early autumn 2015.
Nandos has agreed a 15 year lease on a new build at Straiton, and will open its 3,600 square ft. restaurant in 2015. Nandos will add to the food and beverage amenities already available at Straiton, falling in line with the target demographic for the area and broadening the offering.
The new Sofaworks store has been developed as part of the Gateway Development, taking space in a new building, covering 17,000 square ft. across two floors. The design of the Sofaworks store adopts a unique concept, in line with Peel’s continued focus on design and the retail environment. Sofaworks opened to customers in June 2014.
Kevin Keigher, Asset & Development Manager from the Peel Group commented “The continued investment in Straiton Retail Park has enabled us to deliver three exceptional additions to the already strong tenant mix. We will continue to improve and invest in Straiton in order to meet customer demand as we reposition the scheme as a modern shopping park. Each of these retailers plays a key part in the ongoing strategy for Straiton, encompassing all elements of the retail mix, particularly fashion, together with food & drink, household goods, and leisure offerings.”
Over the past 12-months, Peel Retail Park Straiton has also welcomed the 40,000 square ft. Matalan new concept store which opened its doors to customers in September 2014 and covers two floors of retail space. In addition, Nike opened one of its largest out-of-town stores in the UK in January at the Edinburgh site.
Peel Retail Parks has invested heavily in Peel Retail Park Straiton, refurbishing over 125,000 square ft. including new store fronts throughout the site.
