Countdown to Grand Opening of The Range Stockport
After months of preparation, excitement is mounting for the unveiling of the brand-new home, leisure & garden superstore, The Range in Stockport on Friday 26th July 2019. The work to transform the former Toys R Us unit at Stockport Retail Park is nearing completion.
The store is due to be officially opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, Councillor Laura Booth and Mrs Lynn Glover, at 9am on Friday, 26th July.
The Range is creating thousands of much needed jobs for the retail sector and the new store in Stockport is no exception, bringing over 80 part-time and full-time jobs; from store and department managers to warehouse workers and retail assistants. The new store opening follows an exciting period of development and growth for the company, which has seen the retailer open eleven new stores already this year. With another store opening in Lowestoft on the same day, the total number of branches across the UK and Ireland will hit 174.
The sudden growth of The Range, given the current economic challenges faced by the retail sector, is a mark of the entrepreneurial leadership of Plymouth-based owner and founder of the firm, Chris Dawson. He began life as a market stall trader across the South West of England before opening his first store in 1989 in Plymouth, under the name CDS (Chris Dawson Superstores) and has grown the company at an impressive rate ever since.
The store and shop fit teams have been working around the clock to get the store ready for the big reveal next week. The new store will provide a wide variety of products across 16 departments, including DIY, Kitchen & Dining, Arts & Crafts and a generous Patio offering; all at great prices. The new store in Stockport will also include an Iceland foods, outdoor garden centre and family café.
The grand opening will begin with giveaways for the first 50 people in the queue, including a star prize for the first in-line. The Hits Radio team will be on site running a competition for a £250 Range gift card. There will be some fantastic opening offers running across departments until the 11th August with some great deals to choose from.
The celebrations are set to continue over the weekend, with free demos in store including:
- Colouring Wall by POSCA – Friday 26th July, 8am – 4pm
- DO Craft Demos – Saturday 27th July, 10am – 4pm
- Face-painting by Snazaroo – Saturday 27th July, 11am – 4pm
Dawson commented on the upcoming opening: “Each store plays an important part in the success of our company and Stockport is no exception. This site has been on the radar for some time and we are delighted to replace the former Toys R Us with a new national retailer in the town”.
