This is not just any Foodhall... This is the show-stopping new M&S Stockport Foodhall

After much anticipation, Marks & Spencer officially opened its amazing new Foodhall this week on Wednesday 14th June. The M&S Stockport team gathered at the store entrance at 10am with Store Manager, Anna Priest, who was joined by guest of honour Percy Pig, to cut the ribbon and declare the store officially open.

Located in Peel L&P's Stockport Retail Park, the new 16,000 sq ft store offers local shoppers a fresh-market-style Foodhall with displays brimming with great quality, trusted value produce from M&S Select Farms, and a show-stopping bakery with fresh daily-baked bread and pastries in addition to a dedicated M&S Wine Shop featuring an award-winning selection of wines to match.

As well as creating 110 new jobs in the local community, the new-look M&S Stockport Foodhall represents a significant investment in Stockport’s local economy and follows the retailer’s recent announcement that it plans to invest c.£500 million in its store rotation programme, creating over 3400 new jobs nationwide. The new M&S Stockport store will be among the first of twenty new M&S stores that are due to open across the country in 2023, including major new stores due to open later this year in Manchester’s Trafford Centre and the Liverpool ONE shopping centre. 

Customers will also be able to make the most of convenient ways to pay, with plenty of checkouts for speedy service, and a mobile “Scan & Shop” option available via the M&S App which lets M&S Sparks shoppers skip the queues altogether. Digital screens in store will also make it quicker and easier to Click & Collect orders from marksandspencer.com.

The team have been counting down the days to opening, and on the opening morning over 300 local customers started queuing from 7am to get the first look inside the store. Percy Pig was on-hand to surprise and welcome dedicated shoppers to the new store as the team handed out 200 golden tickets to the first customers through the door. 

Soaking up the opening day celebrations, Store Manager Anna Priest said: “We are thrilled to open our brand-new Foodhall today in Stockport. The last few weeks have been spent putting the finishing touches to our new store and I’m exceptionally proud of my amazing team who have all worked so hard to make sure everything is ready for our big opening day.”
